She was my sister, Nancy Love Newsom's, best friend along with a couple other Poly Alums. She and Irene are no doubt having a special reunion right now!

To Trisha,Tami, Suzie, Tyra and other members of Irene's extended family.
I was saddened to hear of Irene's passing. We had some fun times together after I met Irene and her friend Nancy Newsom at a USS Frank E Evans reunion in San Diego, CA, several years ago, where she was representing her brother Dave, who served on the ship.
May she rest in eternal peace.

I worked with both Irene and Trish at the Post Office and loved them both. The picture that is running through my mind is Irene making the angels laugh, because she could. She was one of the nicest and sweetest people I've ever met. My sympathy to all of the family for your loss, but oh what memories you will have!

Irene was the first person to greet me when I moved into the neighborhood. I always loved spending time with her, chatting and asking her advise about raising a family. She never knew it I'm sure but she was like a mother to me. She was one of the most welcoming, giving, and caring spirits I have ever met. I will miss her deeply.

To the family. I am truly sorry for your loss, please find comfort in each other as well as in the knowledge that she will always shine down on all of you.

I have nothing but good memories of Irene Owens. I remember her as helping at Tandy Elementary School carnivals and buying chocolate from me to support YMCA football. As an adult I remember her as a leader in the West Meadowbrook Neighborhood Association and supporting me as a justice of the peace candidate. She will be missed.

I always enjoyed talking to Irene after I became an adult. She and my older sister were best friends in high school. They baby sat my little sister and me. I remember Kyra and her laughing and talking late into the night together.
Rest in Peace sweet lady.

Irene and my sister, Kyra Ann, were dear friends who grew up together in Poly. It brings me peace to think of the two of them together again.

To Irene's dear family - may God and the memories of this special lady give you comfort.

Aunt Irene was one of my very favorite people. Her generous spirit always made me feel good about people, life and myself. I wished I would have visited her more often, certainly my loss in not doing so. When she walked into a room, it lit up with love and the wonderful smells of her cooking! You were eating whether you were hungry or not, you couldn't NOT eat! Her cooking was the best. She was fun to talk to and I loved her Christmas cards every year. My thoughts & prayers to all of her family.

Irene Owens was a very kind, nice lady that I met though my Navy Reunions. Her brother Dave Owens was a shipmate of mine during the Korean War and during our reunions together it was the many memories that we had that made each reunion special.
We will miss this 'lady' and her special personality and smile very much.

Aunt Irene was one of the kindest people I ever knew. She welcomed me into her home and heart. I am her niece-in-law but she always welcomed me. She always had a smile on her face and open arms for a hug. She will be missed. Love to her immediate family members.
