J.D. Buckner Obituary

J.D. Buckner, 95, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2007.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: Mr. Buckner will be available for viewing at 9 a.m. Thursday.
J.D. Buckner taught school for 32 years at Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, where he treasured his experience with the students and faculty. Mr. Buckner was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Buckner, in 1994.
Survivors: Daughter, Betty Cupps and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Jason Cupps and wife, Tess, Lisa Smith and husband, Jay, and Megan Blankenship and husband, Tommy; and great-grandchildren, Rachel, Caleb, Joefil, Joshua and Aaron Cupps; Katie Crocker, Maggie and Sophie Smith, Autumn and Summer Woods and Clay Blankenship.

Betty and family,

I am so sorry that Mother and I did't get to attend the funeral service for Uncle J.D. He was by far our favorite and we loved him dearly. We will miss him always.

Mr. Buckner was always a favorite visitor to the Kennedale Public Library. He always brought a smile and a deep appreciation for the books that we were able to provide for him. He will be missed.
