James Reza Obituary

FORT WORTH - James "Gino" Reza passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the age of 87.

Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2025, at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Mount Olivet Chapel.

James was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up in the Northside of Fort Worth near the Stockyards. He attended San Jose Catholic School and Trimble Tech High School and graduated in 1956. James was married on January 16, 1960, at All Saints Catholic Church and remained married for 65 years.

While at Trimble Tech James learned to operate a linotype. After graduation he worked for several print shops in Fort Worth including Motheral. After spending 18 years at Motheral he went on to work for Lockheed Martin before finally landing a job as a truck driver for Tarrant County Precinct 4.

Throughout his working years James took up writing as a hobby and had several articles printed in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Dallas Morning News. He also had a weekly column in the El Paso Herald Post. James was a self-taught guitarist who began his musical career playing in the All Saints Choir with his dear friend, Dan Gonzales. In 1984 he started a trio specializing in country music that ultimately landed him a long running regular gig at Los Vaqueros in the Stockyards.

James served as an altar boy at San Jose Catholic church. He was in the 9 o'clock choir at All Saints Catholic Church for several years. He attended weekly mass at Saint Thomas and never missed any holy days of obligation. He especially loved to hear his granddaughter read at Saint Patrick Cathedral.

James enjoyed music, wood work, writing and spending time with his grandchildren. As he grew old he enjoyed taking long car rides with his wife.

Survivors: Wife, Angelina Reza "Angie"; daughters, Cecilia Reza and Michele Reza; son, Larry Reza; grandchildren, Landon Kapavik, Grant Kapavik, Ethan Kapavik and Madeline Kapavik; and son-in-law, Christopher Kapavik.
