A couple of years ago....I was on the internet...and ran across Jerry playing the organ...I loved it...reminded me of my church growing up...I right away wrote him a letter and ordered 2 of his cd's. A few weeks later...he called us...and we had a delightful conversation with this wonderful man!! We love his music!! Now we just found out that he is in Heaven....and how wonderful for him....but very sad for the rest of us and his family!!
God's blessings and peace be with you...his family...until that time when you all meet again!!

44 years ago as a 16 year old kid I met Jerry McKinney when my gospel singing group went to Soul's Harbor Church in Irving, Texas. We went early that Sunday afternoon to set up and I remember walking in and hearing that heavenly sound of that big Hammond Organ and the amazing keyboard mastery of Jerry McKinney. I sat down at the back of that converted theater and listened in awe at song after song, seamlessly segued into another. It was such an emotional and spiritual experience. The rich history of him and his work in the ministry of music for decades is an impressive portfolio. He was in demand around the world in his younger years, but even into his 80's he continued to be called to play for conventions and revivals around the country. I will miss his warm smile and passion for playing. He used to come to our Hammond Organ showroom and play for hours. Every visit was a time of worship and praise. He was loved by so many and his passing is a great loss for those of us who so treasured his music and fellowship. He worked tirelessly and never turned down an opportunity to lift up the name of Jesus in his gift of music.

McKinney family, may God give you peace and strength through this time. I never met him, but because of his legacy spirit to his children, my family and I were effected by him. We learn as we travel through life that our goal in life is to prepare THE WAY and our goal in death is to make it to heaven. Mission Accomplished. <
