Jewel Mitchell Obituary

Jewel Mitchell, 78, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, in Tyler, where she had resided for two years.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Garden Chapel. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Jewel Mitchell was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Clovis, N.M. Jewel moved to Fort Worth in 1951, and was a member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church. She worked for the Red Rooster Lumber Co. as a bookkeeper. Jewel and her husband traveled the world over. She was an avid bridge player and loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all, Jewel was a classic wife and mother and caring for her family is what she truly valued.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Dee Mitchell.

Survivors: Son, Dwight Mitchell and wife, Lore, of Fort Worth; daughter, Carolyn Mayfield and husband, Jeff, of Tyler; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
