Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday in Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Graveside service: 3 p.m. in Salem Cemetery, Alba. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home.
Jim was born Nov. 1, 1950, in Alba to Curtis and Lucille McCook Chaney. He graduated from UTA in 1974 with a degree in civil engineering. Jim was the owner of Jim W. Chaney Consulting Engineers Inc. of Arlington. He was licensed in 43 states as a structural engineer. Jim was a member of the PreCast/Prestressed Concrete Institute and the Structural Engineer Associates of Texas, North Central Chapter. He was an avid hunter, collected guitars and loved old cars. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Chaney.
Survivors: Wife, D'Lynn Chaney; sons, Brian Chaney of Allen, Michael Chaney of College Station and Jonathon Swafford of Arlington; sister-in-law, Mary Chaney of Alba; nephews, Bobby Chaney of Alba and Johnny Chaney and Tommy Chaney, both of Quitman.
