Jimmy McGraw Obituary

Jimmy J. McGraw FORT WORTH--Jimmy J. McGraw, 83, of Fort Worth passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018. INTERMENT: was at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. MEMORIALS: Anyone wishing to make a donation in Jimmy's memory may do so to the Shriners Children's Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association. Jimmy was born in Borger on Feb. 16, 1935, to Ben F. and Amye Johnson McGraw. He graduated from Borger High School in 1954, attended then Oklahoma A&M University as well as Eastern New Mexico University where he met his wife, the former Frances Ogden of Fort Sumner, N.M. In 1960 Jim completed his degree at West Texas State University and received a commission in the U.S. Army. Jim was a career Army officer and pilot for 21 years and served two one-year combat tours in Vietnam where he received numerous commendations, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze stars and 26 Air medals. He retired as a major in 1981 then continued a career in flying with Atlantic Southeast Airlines (then the Delta Connection). He retired in 1999 after serving nine years as chief pilot. SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances; son, Kevin McGraw of McKinney, his wife, Nancy, and their sons, Ben of Dallas, and Brad and Blake at home; daughter, Kathy Misek and fiance, Paul Benson, of Crowley and her sons, Mitch of San Marcos, Mike of Crowley, and Max and wife, Tamara, of Fort Wainright, Alaska; sister, Anita and husband, Jerry McDaniel, of Galveston.

Jim checked me out in the Twin Otter at Rio Airways back in the mid 80's. He was a great guy and I thought a lot of him. He will be missed......Tom Reynolds
