What a great friend and I cherish all the times we chatted and laughed over coffee. Truly amazing fellow who dearly loved his family. Was surprised to learn of his passing - the world is a better place because of his love of and sharing with others our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Shalom to the family - God Bless You Janet Rae Askins

Dear Karen, Paul, Brenda and families,
We are so sorry to hear of Uncle Johnny's death. We extend our sympathies to you all. We were so appreciative of his trip to Minnesota to help out with Winnie when she was failing. She listened to her little brother always and thankfully she was able to go to hospice with his help. I am sure her arms were wide open to welcome him to heaven! Thankfully we have so many great memories of his last trip to our home in Massachusetts from Norman Rockwell's Museum to Martha's Vineyard. There were theological debates, music around the piano, and much laughter. He will be greatly missed. Our love and prayers to you all. Wendy and Reynold and family

I had the pleasure of knowing John and enjoyed his pleasant company. He was always there to bail me out when I had a question whether it was related to aviation or not. I'm going to miss you. Zip{52F}

In addition to his legendary skills in repairing old airplanes and engines, John was a minister with a gift for oratory. He performed the wedding ceremonies for both my sons. He will be missed.

It has been a pleasure knowing John Abitz! I enjoyed visiting with him, talking about airplanes, history and philosophy. A very sharp, entertaining, and charming person; I am saddened at his loss…he will be missed more than he could imagine. God bless John and his Family!

John ran the airframe and powerplant program at SOSU, and was one of the best instructors ever! I remember his humor and his amazing caricatures. A true aviator and friend to all who look to the sky. My Best to Karen, Terry, and the rest of the family. Danny Roberson Captain 757-767 Delta Airlines

John's zest for life, servant's heart, sense of humor and A&E skills will be missed by his many friends. I am most grateful for our friendship that grew after John took care of my deceased husband's Pitts and prepared it for sale. John was always ready to lend a helping to everyone that needed it snd considered it as God's will for his life. He was looking fowrward to a pacemake implant that was scheduled for the day after he went home to be with the Lord. Now he has a whole new body that is better than a pacemaker or anything else the medical world could provide. See you later, John.
