John L. Arwine

1947 - 2016

John L. Arwine, 68, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at his home Tuesday, March 15, 2016, following a long-fought, 26-year battle with cancer. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to service. John was born Aug. 26, 1947, in Fort Worth. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he retired from Sears following more than 30 years of service. At the time of his death, he was employed by the U.S. Treasury Department as a revenue officer for the IRS where his co-workers were especially generous and kind during John's illness and treatment. John loved to play golf. We imagine he is playing in heaven today with his golf buddy Mike Nowicki. John was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis M. and Janelda Arwine; and brother, Lewis M. Arwine Jr. Survivors: Wife, Jane Arwine; sons, Kenneth Arwine and wife, Heidi, and Michael Arwine; daughters, Kristi and husband, Corey Long, and Brandi and husband, Ryan Nowicki; sisters, Elizabeth Arwine and Georgia and husband, Marvin Spiller; grandchildren, Natalie, Garrett, Brendan, Jackson, Landon, Caden, Ava, Ashton and Aiden; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Casper.
