John Edmund Langdon FORT WORTH--John Edmund Langdon died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017. SERVICE: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church, 4200 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth. Pallbearers: Sam Douglas, T.U. Taylor, David Crowley, Kelly Langdon, Phil Dixon, Russell Blair, Bob Wade, Mike Shropshire, Trey Hodge, Steve Murrin and Bill Zimmerman. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at www.cff.org or the Lone Star Film Society, 209 W. 2nd St., Fort Worth, TX, 76102. Johnny was born Oct. 23, 1944, in San Francisco, the son of Jack and Dora Lee Langdon. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth in 1963 and TCU in 1968. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Following TCU, he earned a law degree from South Texas College of Law. In 1973, Johnny began creating companies involved in cancer research and treatment, biomass co-generation, and technology for the enhanced recovery of deep heavy oil. A native of Fort Worth, he founded the Lone Star Film Festival (LSFS) in 2007. Now in its 11th year, LSFS supports a series of film programs, including screenings at the Kimbell, Amon Carter, and Modern Art museums. LSFS also provides film-related educational programs for children. Johnny was the founder and president of Bumbershoot Production Incorporated, a Fort Worth-based motion picture and television development company, which he ran with independent film producer, Carolyn Pfeiffer. Johnny was predeceased by his sister, Jane. SURVIVORS: Wife, Anne; stepson, Jo‰l Livet (May); his children, Clay (Whitney) and Kendall Langdon Levy (Richard); and grandchildren, Byars, Evans Jane, Sam, and Naomi.

I became one of Johnny's assistant's back in 2006 and I worked for him for nearly 10 years. He was the most genuine, kind, creative and easygoing person I've ever known. I always loved to hear his crazy stories about his life and am so thankful he hired me that day.

He was a huge part of my life for so long, that I can't imagine never being able to drop into the office to say "hello" or speaking to him on the phone and hearing him say "Heeeeyyyyy Lisa" while he simultaneously scribbled on his yellow notepad. He dressed up as Santa Claus one year for our office Christmas party and my kids have never forgotten it. You were truly one of a kind and I'll never forget you John.

My deepest condolences to his family I know he adored and talked about so much over all those years.

I first met Johnny in the summer of 1963 while we were both in lock down at San Marcos Academy. Johnny and I became fast friends from the first time we met. Through the years we shared many adventures (some not to be shared in polite company) and as we grew older were able to work with each other on various of his and my professional activities.

I will miss Johnny as he was my best friend and send my sincere condolences to Anne and the rest of his family. I know he loved all of you very much.

I was introduced to Johnny by telephone nearly three years ago by my good friend, Holt Smith after he moved from LA back to Texas. Johnny began immediately discussing the vision for the development of the Stockyards and events like Blimp races and TV Hall of Fame, etc. with a passion and conviction to convince me to come down and take a look for myself. (Holt felt I might be of help and interested because of my involvement in the development of Branson, Missouri.). When I got there, Johnny introduced me to his pal, Steve Murrin and I was hooked. I enticed several of my associates to jump on the band wagon , including Dave Schmidt, a leading Land Based Entertainment guru, who also saw the potiential for the Stockyards to attract millions of Americans and a make major economic Impact on the Ft Worth economy.

What saddens me the most beside Johnny becoming a great friend, that he did not live to see THE VISION BECOME REALTY, which gives us all a resolve to work harder and know that he will be looking down on his his beloved Ft Worth and the subsequent Lone Star Film Festivals with that that catching smile and God will say, Well done Johnny Langdon.

Dear Anne and Family,

I consider myself to be among the very fortunate to have been touched by Johnny's so very kind spirit. He was one of kind and always lived life to the fullest. I could always count on Johnny for a quick witted retort in our intense negotiating sessions. We all will truly miss our friend. I knew Johnny at Stripling and Arlington Heights. He was one of the best natural athletes I've ever observed. He seemed to me rather bored with sports.

I moved to Phoenix, AZ my junior year and was living there at the time of his sister Jane's death. I met Johnny's plane at the Phoenix airport and drove him to his hotel.

It was a very sad time for both of us. That was the last time I saw him. I always remembered his warmth and friendliness.

My prayers go out to him and his family. I pray you all will find strength in the many fond memories of him. Now he'll get to reunite with his parents and Jane.
