Jack Riley--a real gentleman and
loved his work in the Weather Bureau(National Weather Service)
Working with Jack in Operations of
Southern Region,NWS.--Jack visited
1/2 of all weather stations in the region each year and I the other half. Then the following year we exchanged stations. Of course, we
carried with us the findings of the
previous year and Regional suggestions!! for changes needed as
well as commendations. Jack and I
had some 3 or 4 years of this kind
of fun(working). + many tales that
would make a book but best not here.

I will miss my good friend and coworker Jack Riley. He was my mentor and boss in the early 1960s as we struggled to get the new agricultural weather program going with very scarce resources. Later we worked together in the Regional Office in Ft. Worth. He was a pleasure to work with, a kind and sensible man, who could always find something good or nice to say about you or your work. Although I'm deeply saddened by Jack's death, I have been blessed to know the man and will treasure his memory forever.
