Johnnie Hooper Obituary

Johnnie Inman Hooper, 94, went home to the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Olivet Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Johnnie was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Fort Worth. He grew up on a farm, graduated from North Side High School, and later became a self-taught custom home builder. He will be remembered as a kind and generous country gentleman with an uplifting smile. Love of family, friends and church were foremost to Johnnie. We so appreciated the loving care given by staff member of The Willows/Avalon and Manor Care facilities, and Accolade and Vitas Hospice. Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Mae Peter; parents, Mack C. Hooper and Margaret Ellen West; sister, Irene May; and brother, Howard L. Hooper. Survivors: Son, Jim Ed Hooper; daughters, Kathy I. Fisher and Janet E. Steppick; grandchildren, Cody and Zachery Hooper, Scotty L. Hopp, and Ricky G. and Randy G. Steppick; great-grandchildren, Mollie Steppick and Sarah Hooper; and his loving companion, Pauline Ruffin.

My Grandfather was the finest man I have ever known. If more men thought the way he did, the world would be a much better place. Rest in peace, Grandpa, I love you.
