Kari Rollins Obituary

Kari Lane Rollins, D.O.
March 30, 1954 - September 12, 2022
Fort Worth, Texas - Kari Lane Rollins, DO, 68, beloved mother, physician and yoga teacher, passed away on September 12th, 2022 at the Texas Health Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
Kari was born on March 30th, 1954 to Dean Rollins and Mary Ann Johnson in Sioux City, Iowa. The family lived in Iowa, and southern California before settling in the Kansas City metropolitan area, where she attended Shawnee Mission High School in Overland Park, Kansas. She graduated with Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Kansas State University in 1976 and Cum Laude from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in 1979.
Upon graduation and completing her internship, she went on to develop programs in preventative medicine and wellness for doctoral students. Her desire to make such programs available to the public inspired her to establish The Wellness Center in Ft. Worth, in 1986. There she developed her own integrative practice using a blend of Western medicine and ancient Chinese medicine. She also opened a yoga studio where she regularly taught yoga classes, as well as workshops that were dedicated to health education incorporating breathing exercises and meditation.
Dr. Rollins will be remembered as a devoted mother, a dedicated and compassionate physician, and a knowledgeable and authentic yoga teacher. She will be sorely missed by her daughter and family, her patients and staff, as well as her many yoga students and the yoga community.
Survivors are her daughter Anne Petersen, brothers Jim and Ray Rollins, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Dean, mother Mary Ann, sister Gay Hilton, husband and true love of her life, Michael Weiss.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.

Kari was a sincere as her smile. She didn´t complain . Sometimes we walked together and she relayed past and present challenges. She was as strong within as in her work. She was passionate about helping others and being the best she could be. She cared about all of us and I believe she cares about us in eternity

I was a patient of Dr. Rollins, and shocked and heartbroken to learn about her passing today. Dr. Rollins was a beautiful, bright light in this world. She was so truly special and unique, and it is a huge loss for the community. If only there were more doctors (and humans) like her. She made a huge impact on my life, and I will never forget her for as long as I live. I am sending much love to her daughter, family and friends.

I was shocked and saddened when I heard that Dr. Rollins had made her journey to the hereafter. She improved my health and taught me much. Such a shame for the world to lose her. We need more people (and physicians) like her.

It has been such a shock to learn of Dr. Kari Rollins' death. I knew her for about twenty years, and watched her daughter grow up. I attended to her yoga classes, and she was also my physician. Her 30-minute and 60-minute appointments led her to understand my, as well as all of her patients' health and physical needs. Fort Worth is losing an important member of its community. She has, however, created a legacy of love and healing for many, many people. Thank you, Dr. Rollins, for being such an important, kind, and dedicated part of our lives.

I just learned of Dr. Kari's passing. I will always remember her as a wonderful yoga instructor. She introduced the practice to me over 20 years ago. Now I will think of her whenever I am doing my practice. Huge loss.

Kari made life better for all of my family. She helped some people that I love deeply to find wellness when no one else could. Her grace and compassion were beyond measure, and her wisdom brought light to the world. I knew it would happen eventually...and dreaded it...and am devastated by her passing. Not sure how I can even tell my kids.
I bet she's been on my mind so much lately, though, because she's able to watch over us even more now.
Anne, she was so proud of you. Family, I am at your disposal.
Remember the little chain of fabric birds she hung by the door? I have one of those, too, because Kari said I would be blessed by it, and I think of her every time I walk by.

Just found out Kari has passed. I am so very sad but joyous to know she is moving on to more wondrous adventures. She was an amazing friend, mentor and physician. She taught me kundalini yoga and introduced me to Chinese medicine at a time when I was very ill. What a gift to all of us. Namaste my sweet friend. You will be so missed

I first met Dr Rollins about 8 years ago. Right after my knee and hip surgery , she took the time to help me through a rough time and so much of what she taught me improved my ability to walk correctly . She would get in the floor with me a show me exercises and correct me when I needed help. You will meet but a few doctors in this life who will be such an inspiration and dedicated in what they do. She will be truly missed by so many,

Such a privilege to have known Kari and been given such loving care as her patient. She was truly a gifted healer as well as yoga teacher. I am sorry she had to leave us all but I'm excited for her as she moves forward on the next part of her journey.
May her family be embraced.

I am devastated to hear of Dr. Rollins passing. She has been a mentor to me and I am sure her radiance is brightening her path wherever that may be. I am sorry I did not find the time to sit with her and enact our plan to organize her patient handouts to share with the wider world. We will miss her st the Osteopathy and Yoga conference this year. May her family and community be consoled. I am enriched for having known her! Om Trayumbakum- may all her barriers be removed and her motion be free and at ease.

Kari has enriched so many of our lives with her beautiful smile, her warm healing touch, the depth of her knowledge and her gentle, caring ways. Kari saved my life after a near-fatal heart attack in 2004. We owe her so much for all that she has done for us. My life is so much better for having known her. Rest in peace my friend...
