Kathleen Mills Obituary

Kathleen Parker Mills, 90, a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Friday, Nov.19, 2010. She passed at home. Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church, where family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. Interment: Immediately following in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Kathleen was a Fort Worth native and lifelong resident. She was born Sept. 11, 1920, to Tarrant County District Attorney and Mrs. Will R. Parker and was very active in political campaigns for both her father and other candidates. Kathleen studied at St. Ignatius Academy and Polytechnic High School and graduated from TCU in 1942 with a bachelor of business administration degree. The faculty of TCU. selected her to be a member of Mortar Board, an academic honor society for senior women. Kathleen attended St. Patrick's Cathedral as a child and in 1942 became a charter member of St. Alice Catholic Church, which later became Holy Family Catholic Church. She was the wife of Cecil Mills, a Fina Oil and Gas jobber and Goodyear Tire dealer who, over a period of 45 years, both owned and operated three Ridglea area Fina service stations-one at 5631 Camp Bowie, one at 5300 Camp Bowie and one at 3117 Alta Mere. Kathleen deeply treasured Cecil, the love of her life, who passed in 2009, and was so very proud of her two children-her son, Ronnie, a U.S. Olympic Medalist in swimming, and her daughter, Susie, a very accomplished pianist. Kathleen was a charter member of Ridglea Country Club where she was very active in the Ladies' Golf Association for many years and made a hole-in-one. She was known for her happy, adorable laugh and that sweet, precious smile. Kathleen will be sorely missed and her memory forever cherished by her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles "Cecil" Mills. Survivors: Son, Ronnie Mills; daughter, Susie Splann; grandchildren, Robert and Theresa Riley; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Eddie Bailey III and Ashlyn, Brannon and Tarann Riley; great-great-grandchildren, Shane and Shyanne Bailey; nephew, Bill Allen; and many other relatives and friends.

Ronnie and Susie: My heart and prayers go to you both. Ronnie, I know how much you loved your Mother and how devoted you were to her. The love your mom gave to you, you returned to her ten fold!! I still have that picture of your mom and will always treasure it. I can still see that great smile she had! Thank you again for allowing me to take care of her if only for a while. I know she and Cecil are walking arm and arm with each other watching over you all and loving their new life together. Linda Erickson ( Arlington, Tx)
