Actor Larry Hagman, the North Texas native who became world-famous as the conniving and mischievous J.R. Ewing on the TV show Dallas, died Friday at a Dallas hospital.

Dear Mr. Hangman, I watched every episode of Dallas. I was a truck driver and taped Dallas while I was on the road. I'm from Ft. Worth, Tx. I live in Green Bay, Wi. I like the Packer's, however, Go Cowboys!

I cannot thank you enough for the countless hours of entertainment you brought to my life. I think you were the greatest dramatic actor in an evening non episodic continuing drama. You were accomplished in the comedic genre as well. I look at the Dallas DVDs often. You should have been given a lifetime achievement Emmy for your excellent body of work. R.I. Thank you for your stunning performance as "Buck" the Russian translator in director Sidney Lumet's "Failsafe" (1964). It was your first screen portrayal, well deserving of an Oscar for best supporting along with Walter Matthau. I couldn't wait for Friday nights to watch Dallas. I was glued to the tv and nothing else mattered. I wrote to Mr. Hagman years ago but the letter was returned. I still have it. I also have the mugs from the show. How I will treasure them. I was so happy to hear that Dallas was coming back to us. Now I am curious to see what kind of tribute they will give to his character. I totally fell in love with you as the understanding man of many secrets, Capt. Tony Nelson, when I was in high school.
