Leo and wife Betty and brother George-2006

Mike Beier

October 6, 2008

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic accident that lead to the death of Leo Meier. Although we had only met once at a family reunion in Topeka a few years ago, I enjoyed visiting with Leo, his wife Betty, and his brother George at that time, and I have met and talked to George a number of times since then. They were so happy, they loved their traditional German music, and they were dedicated to their immediate and extended family. My prayers go out to the survivors, to support them in their loss. I trust Leo should be just fine, for while he has left many of his loved ones behind for a short time, the company he must now be keeping is truly glorious. May the blessing of the Savior be with all the family as he said:
"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
"Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I ago unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
"And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe."
[John 14: 26-29]
