Leonard Ake Obituary

Leonard H. Ake Jr., 82, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at home after a long illness.

Memorial service: 3 p.m. Monday at Tate Springs Baptist Church, the Rev. Bart McDonald officiating. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or American Lung Association.

Leonard was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Fort Worth. Prior to becoming a truck driver for Miller Truck Line and Ralph Owens, he served in the Army during World War II and received several medals. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Billie Ruth Ake; brother, Howard Ake; and grandson, Terry Scott Ake.

Survivors: Son, Terry Ake and wife, Glenda of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Sherry Ake of Arlington; sister-in-law, Loleta Ake of Tulsa, Okla.; brother-in-law, T.R. Beene of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews.

We will never forget Uncle Leonard. He was the sweetest most gentle man we have ever known. We will miss him, but know that he is now with Aunt Bill.
