Libby Page Obituary

Elizabeth "Libby Lou" Henderson Page, 82, passed away peacefully at home in Fort Worth, on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, surrounded by her family. Graveside service: 3 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Immediately following the service, friends and family are cordially invited to join the family for a reception at the home of Libby Page. Memorials: In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in memory of Libby Henderson Page may be directed to Hope Farms, the charity of one's choice or consider performing a random act of kindness to a stranger, just like Libby would have done. Libby was born on Sept. 4, 1932, in Keltys to Loucile and Simon W. Henderson Jr. Libby grew up in Lufkin along with her four siblings, Veree, Virginia, Laura Sue and Simon III. Libby graduated from the University of Texas, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. While attending University of Texas, Libby met her future husband, Sonny Page, in Russian class. Libby and Sonny married on April 9, 1955, and lived in Fort Worth. Libby enjoyed being a mother and committed her time to her three children, Mike, Suzan and Kelly. Libby was an active member of the community, belonging to the Woman's Club of Fort Worth and the Junior Woman's Club. As a home economics major at the University of Texas, Libby learned how to run an immaculate home and was an incredible cook. There was always fresh whipped cream in the refrigerator and a homemade pie or cake on the kitchen counter. Libby devoted herself to her eight grandchildren, Melissa, Simon, Nicki, Kaycee, Alex and Nicholas. Words cannot express Libby's kind spirit, generosity and unconditional love for everyone she met. Libby led a very spiritual life and attended church weekly until she physically couldn't. Libby loved random acts of kindness to people she barely knew, whether it was a large tip for the single mom waitress or inviting someone lonely over for Thanksgiving dinner. The family would like to thank Libby's wonderful and devoted caregivers, Lakisha Woodard, Hattie Boyd, Frances Spann and Fernando Douglas. Survivors: Son, Michael W. Page; daughter, Suzan Kay Page; son, Richard Kelly Page; grandchildren, Melissa Page, Simon Page, Nicole Schairbaum, Kaycee Schairbaum, Alex Page and Nicholas Page; sister, Virginia Winston of Lufkin; brother, Simon Henderson III of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
