Linda Eichelberger Obituary

Linda Kay Watts Eichelberger, 70, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011. Burial: Lexington, Ky. Memorial visitation: 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Linda was born July 26, 1941, in Lexington, Ky., and graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1959. She was a strong, independent woman and moved to Atlanta, Ga., in 1967 where she earned her real estate license. Her daughter, Laura, was born in 1968 and she raised Laura on her own until her marriage to Dave Eichelberger brought her to Texas in 1976. She received her broker's license and started her own real estate business, Linda Eichelberger, Inc., in 1980. She was a successful, hardworking businesswoman. She lived life on her own terms and was passionate about everything she did. Linda traveled the world and lived life to the fullest. In 1982 she had her first fight with cervical cancer. She was then diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 and that cancer returned in 2003. She fought the first battles with surgery and chemo treatments then opted for Holistic Gerson Therapy in 2003. She had a strong will to survive and was dedicated to the treatments until 2006. She was then diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2008 and declined rapidly. She lost her fight on Oct. 15, 2011, with her daughter at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Stanley Watts and Catherine Francis Huston Watts. Survivors: Daughter, Laura Kaye Anderson and her husband, Scott; granddaughters, Julia Elise Barnes and Madeline Grace Barnes; stepsons, Martin Eichelberger and Clinton Eichelberger; brothers, William Stanley Watts, James Michael Watts, Stephen Ray Watts and Larry Nelson Watts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Laura: I graduated from Henry Clay High School with your Mother. She and I had the same last name. We were friends and although I had lost touch with her I still thought of her often. I am so sorry for your loss. Your family with be in my prayers. Be strong.
