Lois Tilley Obituary

Lois was born in 1926 at a farmhouse in Coahoma, Texas. She was the eighth of twelve children born to Nellie Walker Francis and John Thomas Francis.

While a senior at Courtney High School, Lois was offered a job at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator in Midland. And so began an over forty-year career with SBC. In 1986 Lois retired having risen to management in the Marketing Department.

Lois married Joe Dell Tilley in May of 1952. They enjoyed dancing, golfing and traveling. They did travel the globe! Joe passed away in June of 2006.

It is an understatement to say Lois enjoyed playing bridge. Bridge led her to a wide circle of friends including those at The Woman's Club of Fort Worth, Ridglea Country Club and The Fort Worth Club.

Lois is survived by one son, Scott, his wife Jane, three grandsons (William, Ben and Trammell), two great granddaughters (Charlotte and Claire), and one great grandson (Trammell Patrick).

A nephew, Michael Tilley, his wife Karen, their four children and their grandchildren, were a very special part of her life, too.

Memorials may be made to The Woman's Club of Fort Worth Historical Preservation Trust Fund.

At Lois's request there will not be a memorial service. Instead, gather with friends and family and lift a toast to a full life well lived!
