Mabel Mayfield Obituary

Mabel Mayfield died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at an Anson hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Anson Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Pittman officiating. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery. Family visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Adams-Graham Funeral Home.
Memorials: The family requests that, in lieu of floral arrangements, donations be made in Mabel's memory to Anson Northside Baptist Church, 124 N. Commercial, Anson, Texas 79501; or Meals on Wheels, 1225 Avenue J, Anson, Texas 79501.
Born Jan. 11, 1917, near Jewett in Limestone County to a pioneer family, Mabel was a daughter of Albert and Lillie Reese Story. She attended school in the Union community and later attended Anson High School, where she met N.J. Mayfield. They married Nov. 12, 1935, in Anson and lived in Jones County for all their married life where they engaged in farming and ranching. N.J. passed away in September 1973.
Mabel was a lifelong Baptist and a faithful member of Anson Northside Baptist Church. She loved sports and rarely ever missed watching the Cowboys, Mavericks, the Aggies or Red Raiders. She loved going to Texas Stadium to watch the Cowboys.
Survivors: Sons, Dwain Mayfield and wife, Lynda, of Weatherford, Durwood Mayfield and wife, Alleene, of Lubbock and Gilbert Mayfield and wife, Juli, of Arlington; and grandchildren, David Mayfield and wife, Julie, of Dublin, Gary Mayfield, wife, Shelley, and family of Watauga, Jason Mayfield, wife, Pam, and son, Chase, of St. Louis, Mo., Corey Mayfield, wife, Kim, and daughter, Riley, of Arlington, Charles Mayfield, currently stationed in Iraq, sons, Aaron and Mason, and Jennifer Gore and daughter, Brook, of Lubbock.
