Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mark was born March 6, 1960, in Dallas. He went to Northwest High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines and he supported his troops. He was a driver for Charley's Concrete and the only thing he knew about concrete is "it gets hard and cracks." "Major Mudd" loved the UT Longhorns and old western movies and he never met a stranger. He was a joker whom everybody liked and had been attending AA meetings. He was a country guy at heart and would say, "Toodle-loo" and "Ooh-rah." Mark was preceded in death by his father, Ben Nichols.
Survivors: Sons, Marcus and Jen Nichols and Eric Nichols and Lindsey Garrett; daughter, Jennifer Nichols and Jeff Jones; grandchildren, Caden, Robert, Sydney and Lexy, with another grandchild on the way, Aiden; mother, Winonna Nichols; sister, Lenonna Nichols; coffee buddy, Mary Stang; and his dog, Junior.

I'm so sorry to just now adding an entry to Mark's guest book. Just found out today. I knew him when we were 16 and going to Northwest H.S. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I have no doubt that he was a wonderful man. He left a lasting impression and I'll never forget him.
