Marsha Roberts Obituary

Marsha Ann Roberts was born on Dec. 10, 1951, in Washington, D.C., to Louis and Dorothy Roberts. Marsha was a graduate of Como High School Class of 1969. She continued her education and received her bachelor's of business administration degree from Texas Wesleyan University. After graduating from college, Marsha worked as a data management analyst for Lockheed Martin where she retired after 34 years. Marsha loved her family and was always there for them; while never having children of her own, she was especially close to her sister, Karen, and her two daughters, Ann and Candy. Later, that closeness extended to Candy's two children, Rakyah and Willie Jr. Marsha was very proud of her Como community and was honored with a service award for her participation in many activities and events. Her love for community and her Class of 1969, brought her to create and design Como Alumni Website, which has grown to over 600 members and it was her hope that it would continue to thrive. In her leisure time, Marsha loved to cook and entertain friends and relatives. Her love for dancing kept her on the dance floor and learning new line dances. In her quiet time you could often find her sitting her sunroom admiring her garden that she created with love and care. Marsha loved life and tried to get much enjoyment, as well as making full use of every moment available to her. She could often be found listening to her large library of audio books while working on other projects such as making her home as inviting as possible, or creating the most appetizing meal for the enjoyment of her next guest. Marsha's life was that of a good, loving sister and friend. On Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, Marsha Ann Roberts was escorted to her prepared place in heaven. She will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family. Survivors: Sisters, Norma Jean Roberts, Karen Marie Roberts, Marva Faye Miller, Dorothy Roberts; and brothers, Leonard Earl Miller, Gregory Roberts, James Roberts and Spencer Cooper.

Marsha and I were friends for over 30 years and had many fun times that I missed over the past year. Marsha was a role model in all she accomplished and will truly be missed in every way...that smile, that walk, that style, that voice. May the family remember,"That As Long As Their Is A Memory, she will always be with You." Rest In Peace My Friend! OK! Loved You!

To the family and friends of Marsha there's an old saying you can't forget memories and my friend Marsha was certainly one memorable person. Although Ms. Roberts and I knew of each other at work (GD/LM) for the first 20+ years of my career, we never really worked together until the last few years before she retired. It was during that time that I came to understand how and why she did things a certain way - what I would call the Marsha Way. At her core, she was a problem solver. She absolutely loved folks to tell her it can't be done because that gave her the push she needed to go get that problem fixed or show you that no you're wrong because I just solved your problemand here's how it can now work for you a little better than what it did before. Boom. Ha! I saw her do that with so many work projects I lost count, and also with her home remodeling projects and with her beloved Como Alumni website. If she didn't understand or know the ins and outs of the project or what the Engineer or remodeling contractor was talking about, she studied up on it and got to be able to talk to them on an equal basis...or in the case of the alumni website, how to create and maintain a website. She was relentless that way. Such an admirable trait that we all possess but that so few of us use. So it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to Ms. Marsha...who I considered to be a good friend. She taught me several valuable lessons that I still use today at work and for that I'm thankful. Perhaps the best lesson was to always be willing to learn something new. Rest In Peace Ms. Marsha. May God bless your family and friends during this time of grief and sorrow.

To the Roberts Family: May the precious memories of your beloved Marsha sustain you in the days ahead. May God our Father comfort each of you as you mourn. Marsha lived and loved life and her family to the fullest; she gave all she could. I will never forget her as a fellow classmate and Johnson Chapel-ite in the early years.

I am so sorry for your loss . Although your hearts are filled with pain and sorrow , my prayer is that you gain comfort and hope from God's promise to reunite us with loved ones on the earth , never having to say goodbye again . For Jesus will make this earth the problem-free paradise that his Father intended it to be . I have gained comfort and strength from this promise , may your family do the same .

Marsha was one of my very best friends. We celebrated our 50th birthday together in an elaborate celebration mostly planned by her. She had a special talent for decorating and making fancy meals that I had the pleasure of enjoying on many occasions. I will miss her so much. The class reunions will not be the same without her; although I knw she will be there in spirit. I love you my friend. RIP
