Martha Bailey Walker

November 14, 1933 - September 20, 2025

Arlington, Texas - Martha Walker passed peacefully, surrounded by her family on September 20, 2025. She was born in Columbia, South America, November 14, 1933.

Martha grew up in White Castle, Louisiana, graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 1954 and she received her Masters Degree from UTA.

Among her many accomplishments Martha was the first City Council Woman in Arlington, elected in 1972. She is a co-founder of the Fielder Museum and served on the JPS Board of Managers for 8 years. Martha Walker Park at 7509 Sharon Lee Dr, Arlington, TX. 76001 is named in her honor.

She is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Lucille Bailey and her son Burley Paul Walker. Martha is survived by her son Michael B. Walker and wife Debra Lamont Walker of Fort Worth, daughter Mary Anne Bowen and husband Scott Bowen of Fort Worth; Grandsons Matthew Kuban and wife Michelle Kuban of North Richland Hills, Michael Kuban and wife Kim Kuban of Hurst; Zachary Bowen of Fort Worth; and great-grandchildren Sam and Evelyn Kuban of North Richland Hills.

Martha was a positive influence in the community. Her love of travel and adventure took her all over the world and she has friends around the globe.

Martha's Celebration of Life will be November 1, 2025, 1pm - 3pm at
