Maxine Dew Obituary

Maxine Collins Dew FORT WORTH--Maxine Collins Dew, 97, died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018. PRAYER SERVICE: 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Thompson's Harveson & Cole. Interment: Raleigh, N.C. Maxine was born Nov. 4, 1921, to Rallie Lee and Hollin Barge Collins in Fairburn, Ga. She attended southern schools and graduated with an associate business degree. She married Judge Raymond Dew before he left overseas for World War II. After brief stops in South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia, they settled in Raleigh, N.C., to raise their three children, Bobby, Suzanne, and Carolyn. As a child of the Depression, Maxine was always grateful for what she had. Her family was always first and foremost as exhibited by her selfless acts. She and Judge Dew were longtime members of Hayes Barton Baptist Church where they regularly attended Sunday school before church services. Upon her husband's passing, Maxine moved to Fort Worth, Texas, to be close to family. She adopted Texas as her home state where she quickly learned to line dance. She was especially an ardent supporter of the Texas Rangers where she could be heard providing vocal managerial advice while watching most every game. Maxine was a southern woman, complete with accent, who insisted on manning the rudder until the very end. We would like to thank her caretakers at Brookdale Broadway Citiview and a special thank you to Gwen Robb and Maria Cazares for their years of dedicated service. SURVIVORS: Maxine is survived by her daughters, Suzanne and husband, Mark Nelson, Carolyn and husband, Chris Gruensfelder; and numerous nephews and nieces.
