Melissa Mayer-Davis Obituary

Melissa Mayer-Davis
December 5, 1958 - July 23, 2023
Bedford, Texas - Melissa Melvin Mayer-Davis of Bedford, TX, beloved wife of Mike Davis, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, in her home.
Melissa was born on December 5, 1958 in Mt. Holly, New Jersey to Edward and Audrey Melvin. When she was two years old, the family moved to McAllen, Texas. A few years later, her family was transferred to Paris, Texas. In her 8th grade year, the family moved to Richland Hills, Texas. Melissa graduated from Haltom High School in 1977. She then attended the University of Texas at Arlington where she graduated in 1982 with a BS degree in Medical Technology. During her college years, she married her high school sweetheart, Carl Mayer. After graduation, Melissa held various laboratory positions in the healthcare industry. In 2002, Melissa had an opportunity to become a small business owner in the cosmetics industry, so she changed career paths and purchased a Merle Norman franchise near her home in Bedford, Texas. She was passionate about making sure her clients felt welcome and beautiful. After her husband passed away unexpectedly in 2003, Melissa poured herself into her business, her customers, and her cats.
Melissa and Mike were married on November 5, 2012. They enjoyed their life with their cats and loved to travel together, often vacationing in the mountains. They could often be found watching sports on TV (Melissa especially loved the TX Rangers), going to shows together at the Bass Hall, or enjoying a quiet sunset swim in their backyard pool.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Mike Davis, her sister, Robin Wantland & Brother-In-Law Mike Wantland of Taylortown, Texas, a nephew, several nieces, and her adored cats, Stanley and Daniel.
We invite all who knew Melissa to celebrate her life at her Merle Norman studio, 1420-I Airport Freeway Bedford, TX 76022 on Saturday August 5, 2023, any time from 12pm to 6pm.

I am so shocked and saddened to know that Melissa passed away. I am not much of a shopper really but I loved going to see Melissa at Merle Norman. She was such a beautiful, caring person. She walked me out to my car the last time I saw her because she knew I was dizzy from Long Covid. She gave me a big warm hug. I loved her.

Melissa was one of those people in my life who was supposed to always be here. I'm still reeling in shock at her loss. She was someone whose loving spirit was always evident. I never felt like selling me products was her first priority. The last time I saw her, she made a trip outside as I was leaving to wish my husband well as he goes through chemo. She was not a "preachy" person, but it was easy to see that she was a Matthew 22:36-40 woman. I miss you, Ms. Melissa!

This was such a shock to hear about Melissa. I had just visited the store a few weeks before and her and I always talked about where we were going on our next vacations. Such a very very sweet lady who always had a warm smile. My deepest condolences on your loss.

I am shocked and so sad! I just saw her in July at Merle Norman and she looked great! She always treated me with respect and asked about my family and we shared our love of traveling and faith in the Lord. I loved her and often prayed for her and hubby. She was just beautiful inside and out! I wonder what happened. I look forward to seeing her again someday in heaven!

I was shocked to hear that Melissa passed away. She was a lovely person. We met when I starting shopping at Merle Norman many years ago and bonded over a love of travel and birthdays that were 1 year and 1 day apart. So deeply sorry for your loss. May you be comforted by your precious memories of her and the knowledge that she made a difference and brightened the days of many others she knew.

Greetings,
My mother and I want to extend sincerest sympathies of learning Melissa passed away.
My mother would always go visit and purchase her Merle Norman which she has worn since I was quite young. Once my mother was not driving any longer (and I transferred her to my home in Hudson Oaks TX, I would return to Melissa's store to get her Christmas gift. Melissa then knew who I was and helped with getting just what my mother used! We spoke about how my mother was doing and Melissa would ask about Caesar, moms well loved 2002 Cadillac!. I am so very sorry to learn of Melissa's passing. I wanted to drive to the store to express condolences. Unfortunately I was not able to.
Peace of the Lord be with you always
