Meto Miteff Obituary

Meto Miteff
May 22, 1933 - March 5, 2022
Fort Worth, Texas - On March 5, 2022, Meto Miteff passed away peacefully surrounded by his proud and loving family.
Meto was born on May 22, 1933, in Krusevo, Yugoslavia to Ned and Donna Miteff. At age five, the family journeyed to the United States aboard the Queen Mary and headed West to Fort Worth. Here he learned English at Washington Heights Elementary and learned to play a pretty good violin—claimed to the end he could still play it!!! His high school years were spent at R.L. Paschal where he made lifelong friends and played guard on a championship winning basketball team coached by Charlie Turner.
Now off to Austin and to his beloved University of Texas preparing to attend law school after graduation. During a college break, he returned to Fort Worth and met the love of his life, Virginia Havron. The two married in 1954 and remained in Austin. After graduating from the University of Texas School of Law, Meto and Virginia settled back in Fort Worth where they raised two lovely daughters—Michelle and Melissa.
Meto served in the United States Army Reserve for six years upon returning to Fort Worth. His professional career began working for the Tarrant County District Attorney's office followed by establishing his own law practice in 1958. In 1981, Meto and Gary Reynolds began Reynolds Asphalt & Construction Company, where he served as CEO for 41 years. This partnership evolved into an extremely successful business and even better friendship. Meto's entrepreneurial spirit continued over the years as he became involved in land development projects, which produced Stonecreek Farms in Aledo and Rosecrest Estates in Forest Hill while continuing to practice law.
Meto was an active member of Ridglea Country Club, Petroleum Club of Fort Worth, The Fort Worth Club and River Crest Country Club. He loved rounds of golf with his friends (and maybe a side bet or two), traveling the world with family and friends, and enjoying a fine meal with a good bottle of wine. In all of his eighty-eight years, he never once met a stranger, outgoing, passionate, fun loving—and as someone once said, "the biggest 5'7" tall man you will ever meet". He was charitable with his time and support of wonderful organizations such as Saint Andrew's Anglican Church, ACH Child and Family Services and Jewel Charity. His favorite passion, however, was simply spending time with his family. He loved and supported each and every family member to the fullest.
Meto is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Virginia; his children, Michelle Purvis and her husband, Tom and Melissa Kirtley and her husband, William; his grandchildren, Thompson Purvis and wife, Lauren, Melissa Raulston and husband, Doak, Kate Kirtley and fiancé, John Peloza, and Will Kirtley; his great-grandchildren, Thompson Purvis V and Margot Raulston; his siblings, Kathy Preissinger and husband, Bob, Christopher Miteff and wife, Susannah, Michael Miteff and wife, Martha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Donna Miteff.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, March, 14, 2022, at Greenwood. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday March, 15, 2022, at Saint Andrew's Anglican Church. Following the service, the family invites all of Meto's friends to celebrate his remarkable life with them at River Crest Country Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Andrews Anglican Church, Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, ACH Child and Family Services, Fort Worth Country Day, or charity of choice.
