Dear Van, Victor, Nada, and Robert,
You might not remember us, but my sister and I have fond memories of visiting your family many years ago when we were all children. I remember one time when your mother had cooked a big pot of spaghetti, she invited us to join you all for dinner when we just happened to drop by for a visit. I remember how your mother laughed when she told us that Nada had carved her name in the upright piano that your parents had just bought. In our house that would have been grounds for serious punishment. We were impressed that you had a ham radio in your house and a printing press in your garage. The line, “Garage full of church ink,” in my poem “Transients” is a fragment of my memory of the Wise family’s home, with a printing press in the garage where your mother printed, among other things, weekly programs for Sunday worship services in local churches. We are sorry for the loss of your mother, a truly remarkable woman.

Mrs. Wise was a great woman. She was truly a gifted woman who gave so much. Her smile was only second to her kind heart and sweet ways. May God's comfort be with you and may the warm memories of your mother and grandmother be your life long gift. Peace...Sherry

To Van, Victor, Nada and Robert:
I know it is a difficult time you're going through...The road ahead may seem long.. But let faith take you by the hand and guide you through these difficult times. In this hour of pain, It's the memories that keep you going. Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how brightly cousin Mittie glowed. May beautiful memories give you strength. You are all in my prayers.
