Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Friday at Northwest Christian Church, 1113 Wright Street, Arlington. Burial: 3 p.m. in D/FW National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Alzheimers Association of North Texas, or a charity of choice.
Neil was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Austin, and was proud to be a native Texan. During his childhood, Neil's family lived in several states. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School and later enlisted in the Air Force, serving during the Korean War. Neil graduated from Arlington State College with an M.E. degree and was employed by Vought Aircraft, retiring after 32 years of service.
He was a member of Northwest Christian Church, and had previously been a charter member and elder of St. Andrew Christian Church. Neil was a loving family man. He enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle, and traveling. Neil had a kind spirit that looked for the best in everyone he met.
Survivors: Wife, Shirley Godbold; son, Jeff Godbold and wife, Holli, and grandson Evan; son, Scott Godbold and wife, Rebekah; sisters, Mollie Moore-Sullivan and Virginia Godbold of California; sister, Sheryl Leithner and husband, Angel, Daskalov of Arlington; and brother, Gary T. Godbold of Fort Worth.
