On behalf of the Tarrant County Clerk´s office, my team and I would like to recognize and pay honor to Judge Pat Ferchill. As clerks of his court, his leadership, unparalleled knowledge, and application of Texas Probate law, allowed our office to provide compassionate and comprehensive services to the citizens of Tarrant County during the probate process for loved ones.

In 2000, I visited Chissa Gordon to see her house for the book that I was writing on architect David Adler. Unbeknownst to me, Dear Chissa hosted a cocktail party in my honor where I met her family and friends. I immediately felt welcome as if I was a native of Ft. Worth. On that occasion is when I met Pat, Cantey, Tina, Joe, Kevin, Ruth and a host of Chissas family and friends. There were other visits, Sat lunches at Cafe Pacific hosted by Joe and Kevin and attending the Cotillion, but unfortunately one that I missed... not seeing Pat. He and I kept in touch on Facebook, making me feel that we were connected. I´m saddened over Pats passing but I remember good and meaningful occasions together!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Judge Ferchill. He was a first-class gentleman and a wonderful mentor. As a young attorney, he always treated me with kindness and respect. I will never forget him. I wish his family and friends peace.

It was my honor to serve as Judge Ferchill's Guardianship Auditor for a brief time. He was a great judge, and a great boss. He had a real heart for the people of Tarrant County and Texas in general. I was just telling someone the other day about how he tried to get me to start up something like GSI in Denton County when I lived out there (after much consultation, I didn't), but he was passionate about making sure that those who could not take care of themselves had somewhere to turn. A man with a huge heart. We will all miss him. You have my deepest sympathies.

In a sense, I owe my career to Pat Ferchill. In 2009, as a fledgling attorney, I started doing ad litem work for Probate Court 2. When Judge Ferchill learned I had a background in mental health, he put me on the Tarrant County mental health ad litem wheel. Six years later, Chris Ponder (now judge of Probate Court 1) brought me to the DA's office to handle those same cases from the other side. Thanks again, Judge Ferchill, for giving me my start as a mental health attorney!!

Judge Ferchill was an amazing person. When I was a young lawyer, he took the time to counsel and guide; never making me feel embarrassed for needing to grow. Judge Ferchill's Christmas in the court was a magical event that my now grown children and I will always cherish. I am blessed to be counted amongst the many that are better lawyers and people having known Judge Ferchill. Thank you Judge for your servant heart.

A fine gentleman, citizen and friend, and a Judge who greatly benefitted citizens of Fort Worth, and also of Texas by his work in improving Texas guardianship law.
