Patsy Bailey Obituary

Beautiful Patsy Curley Bailey was called to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early evening of Friday, Feb. 13, 2015. Waiting for her were her dad, Gerald; mother, Katherine; brother, Mike; many friends; and a few choice patron saints like Mother Theresa, St. Patrick and St. Francis, to name some of her most cherished. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in south Arlington. An open house will follow at 4 p.m. Celebration of life: to be held in Bloomington, Ill., at a later date to be decided. Memorials: We ask, in lieu of flowers, to please make a memorial tribute to Patsy in her name with the Texas or National Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Mom and Dad are champions of the cause. Patsy was brave. She was a devout Catholic. She was a victor over several cancers and inspired so many others for more than 19 years. She was driven to help those with less and in need. We don't remember a day where she hadn't mentioned or wasn't doing something for someone else. Giving was her fuel in life and she had a full tank. She was an adoring daughter and sister. She had a wicked sense of humor; hence Friday the 13th and yet the next day to be filled and celebrated with so much love with all your Valentines. Survivors: Patsy is leaving her everlasting love and presence with Rex, her husband of over 55 years; children, Peppy (Mary Beth), Ty Bailey and wife, Suzanne (Moody), and Kathy Bailey Niepagen and husband, Frank; grandchildren, Jake, Travis, Patrick and Addison; stepgrandchildren, Scott and Jamie Niepagen Peters and Jeff and Stacy Tanner Niepagen; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Austin, Jared and Maggie Peters, Izzie (Isabelle) and Kampbell Niepagen.

Patsy, became a friend when I started working with her at AA so many years ago, in 2004 she and I retired at the same time. I will remember our walks during lunch, Christmas parties, and many other good times. She was always so nice to everyone. She will be missed. Prayers are with Rex and the family.

I worked with Patsy for many years at American Airlines. She was a beautiful, classy lady and I wanted to be just like her when I grew up, although she wasn't but a few years older than me. I can still hear her laugh. I don't think I ever saw her in a bad mood, even when she was first diagnosed. She was an extremely positive person and this world is now without a special light.

Patsy was such a joy and full of life! Her smile was contagious and she had a great sense of humor! She was always looking to make things special. I still remember going to look for Bailey minis for party favors for Ty's wedding. She loved her family very much! My deepest sympathies to Rex and the family. Hortencia Barton
