Richard Bennett was born June 23, 1918, in East Hampton, Long Island, N.Y. He graduated from East Hampton High School in 1934, attended Mechanics Institute in New York City, then joined Grumman Aerospace in 1940. He moved to Texas in 1963 as the Regional and F-111 program manager for Grumman and retired in 1977. He was an adult Sunday School teacher at Arlington United Methodist Church. Also, he was the first male volunteer at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Richard Bennett, Sr. was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Snyder Bennett, Dec. 2, 1986.
Survivors: beloved wife, Dorothy Bennett; daughter, Dr. Lola Boyce and husband, John Welsh; son, Richard Newton Bennett Jr. and wife, Sally; daughter, Darcy Brown and husband, Mark; two stepsons, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
