Robert "Bob" James Winnick was born Sept. 15, 1943.
Bobby, a Fort Worth native and the son of Jack and Flora Winnick, graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1961. He married his high school sweetheart, Myrna Kay Shropshire, on Aug. 30, 1963. "We've known each other since we were 13 years old," said Myrna. "We had our first date when we were 16, and he proposed as he did on every date after that. He's been in my life for 46 years."
Bobby graduated from North Texas State University in 1968 with a bachelor of arts in education and history. He taught English at Stripling Junior High School for a year before becoming a systems analyst with IBM in 1968. Bobby worked with computer systems for the rest of his life in various capacities and with a number of different companies. Bobby's lifelong interest in psychology led him to Texas Christian University, where he received a master's degree in 1977.
Bobby was an exceptionally intelligent, caring and tender man whose generous spirit touched many people. Family and friends were his prime focus. He had an innate ability to make friends of strangers, but also managed to maintain close contact with many of his school friends from elementary through college. He was always a great source of comfort and support to his family during hard times, dispensing wisdom, food and humor as prescriptions.
Bobby's wit and sense of humor were sources of unending pleasure, and spending an evening dining and conversing with Bobby and Myrna was always a joyous experience. Those who were fortunate enough to experience Bobby's cooking will never forget it. He was an accomplished gourmet cook who loved to feed his friends and family.
Survivors: Loving wife and best friend, Myrna Shropshire Winnick; sister, Joan Carter of Fort Worth and her children, Caety, Jimmy, Virginia and Troy; sister, Barbara and husband, Ray Williams, of Dallas, and their children, Mike, Mark and Kelly; and Myrna's brother, Tim Shropshire and wife, Sherry McGlochlin, of Boulder, Colo.

Robert was a close boyhood friend who was kind enough to share his parents with me. He had a great (and weird) sense of humor—introducing me to Mad Magazine somewhere along about 1953.

Our deepest sympathy goes to the family. I'll always remember Bob as such a great person who always seemed so gentle and full of good humor. He was a great combination of his parents, Aunt Flora and Uncle Jack (to me) and who were two wonderful people as well. Seeing Bob at the family reunion last April has such meaning now.
Love,
Susan (Levin) Katz and family

I never met Bob, but I know that my husband has always considered him to be a really special person. My sincere sympathies go to his family and friends.

I worked for Bob remotely in the mid-80s. I'd call him up and rant and rave about whatever I was letting bother me at the time. And in that wonderful, deep voice, he'd say (occasionally with just a leetle bit of exasperation), "Stubbs, what's the real problem".
The real problem, SnoBob, is that I'm really gonna miss the wit and wisdom presented in your basso profundo.

Bob was a special person who made to world of data processing a much warmer place. His humor and friendliness will always be remembered.

Bob and I were friends from early childhood in the Arlington Heights neighborhood. I have many fond memories of those days of Bob, me, Jack Wilson and others riding our bikes and getting into mischief in the wonderful summers of childhood. I saw Bob infrequently in these last years, but he will always be remembered as a dear friend, one whom I'll miss. Myrna is also a dear friend and my thoughts and prayers go out to her. May the Lord comfort you and be with you, Myrna, during this time. Courtney DeLorme

Bob was exceptionally talented, as a computer analyst, knowledgable chef, wine connoisseur, and friend. He taught me more that almost anyone I've known. I'll miss him greatly.
