Rolland Jory (Joe) Moraine

July 26, 1939 - June 24, 2024

Colleyville, Texas - Rolland Jory (Joe) Moraine went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 24, 2024. Joe was born in Iowa, and grew up largely in Indianola Iowa, California and later Kansas. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and joined the US Air Force in 1957. He was stationed in Greenland, Morocco, and various places around the world.

He left enlisted service to complete college at Drake University, where he was a member of the ROTC, graduating with honors. He completed pilot training, and spent the next several years as an officer, based in Dover, Delaware and flying into active combat zones in Southeast Asia. Achieving the rank of Captain, he later joined Delta Air Lines as one of the original D/FW based pilots, and would go on to fly for the airline until his retirement in 1999.

Joe was an avid amateur radio operator, and achieved the elusive "extra" class license (N5UX). He was a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa, and The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother Joy Bernice Reda (nee Shoemaker), his father Keith Albert Moraine, and brother Keith Moraine, Jr. ("Buddy"). Also greeting Joe in Heaven are his beloved grandparents Edna Day and Rex Shoemaker (the "finest people he ever knew.").

Joe was cherished and loved by his sons - David James (Lori), and their children Ashlyn and Colton, and Michael Allen (Reisha) and their children Michael, Matthew, and Mason. Joe also leaves behind his half-brother Grant, and his dear companion Virginia Carol Johnson, with whom he shared the last years of his life.

He was the cornerstone of our family and will be dearly missed.
