Rome, you were always so kind to our family. I was so sorry to hear you passed away. First met you on a road trip to Norman, Okla in 1983 where you and James were judging a boys' meet and we got to talk to Bart Conner that day. I was lucky enough to visit the art gallery in downtown FTW several times and remember you liked to paint while standing inside the front windows. You came to the funeral when my father in law, Charlie Sergeant passed away in 2013. You are missed. Rest in peace. Meg

Coach Milan, you were a great coach who had the best interests of your athletes at the forefront of your mind always. I'll never forget the years I was able to train under your guidance. You were one of the best and you will be sadly missed by so many. Rest in peace, Coach.

We are deeply saddened at this news.
We wake up every morning to Rome's 3 fine paintings that hang in our bedroom. We view them as precious amidst our collection of Milan fine art, including his Mom's work of course. My wife's favorite is Rome's rendition of Santa Klaus. A second, a Tuscany landscape also signed on the back by assisting children. And a third, a beautiful lighthouse/ seascape capturing the New England coast that I grew up with and loved..
We regret that we did not know Rome personally. However we did get a glimpse of him standing up indulging his artistry through a window as we passed the gallery. I regret that being rushed we didn't go in. It was clear through his spirit of animation and dance that he was living life to its fullest and with joy. And that is enough.
We deeply miss the the downtown Fort Worth Gallery and lively conversations with Tal, which in so many ways offered us many hours of respite over the years from the world we live in. We were honored to meet Henrietta and her husband.
Blessings,
Paul and Janice Von Vogt

My late husband Rodney Houdek was a huge fan of Rome and all the Milan’s as am I. Rome you lived a life few have the honor or opportunity to live. You inspired so many on your journeys. Heaven has gained another sweet Angel much too soon. Praying for your family during this time of great sorrow. Hugs and Love to you all.

It was always exciting to attend gymnastics events and reminisce of the things Rome would display, showing what this sport started as to what it is now. Olympic torches, pins, equipment and loved meeting Bacon. I first meet Bacon walking on a beam as a tiny thing at Norberts Booth at a Congress event. Romes painting were so beautiful as well. Rome will be greatly missed as well as the history of gymnastics that he graciously shared with us all.
