Arlington, Texas - It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald James Forte, a beloved father, veteran, and respected member of the community. Ronald peacefully departed this world on October 28, 2023, in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 82.

Ronald was born on January 11, 1941, in Rochester, New York, where he spent his formative years. He attended West High School from 1954 to 1958, where he excelled academically and athletically. He was a member of the National Honor Society and achieved notable success as a baseball and soccer player, receiving the All-City First Team accolades. Ronald's passion for sports continued into college, where he attended the University of Rochester from 1958 to 1962. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History and English and distinguished himself as the captain of both the varsity baseball and soccer teams. His remarkable skills on the field led him to set a career goals scored record in soccer and earned him the prestigious Louis Alexander Award for his outstanding achievements as an athlete and student. Ronald took on leadership roles as the president of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity, fostering camaraderie and unity among his peers.

Following his graduation, Ronald pursued his love for baseball by playing for two years in the Western Carolina and Quebec Provincial Leagues. However, his life took an extraordinary turn when he enlisted in the United States Navy on February 6, 1964. Ronald's dedication and commitment led him to become a Naval Aviator, serving his country with honor and distinction from 1965 to 1972. For his outstanding service in Vietnam, he was awarded the Air Medal. Ronald rose to the rank of Lieutenant before his honorable discharge on April 1, 1972.

After his military service, Ronald embarked on a successful career as a Captain with American Airlines, spanning an impressive 27 years. He flew both domestic and international flights while stationed in Buffalo, Chicago, and Dallas/Fort Worth. Ronald's dedication and skill as a pilot were highly regarded, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers. He was a member of the Grey Eagles, an association of retired pilots, showcasing his commitment to aviation excellence.

Outside of his professional and community endeavors, Ronald had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He dedicated 25 years to senior softball, managing and playing with local and tournament teams. His coaching abilities were evident as he guided both boys and girls youth soccer and baseball teams. Ronald loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed activities such as tennis, gardening, and participating in the Cowtown 10Ks. He also had a deep affection for animals and engaged in animal rehabilitation alongside his beloved wife. Exploring the world through cruises and travel brought him great joy and fulfillment.

I had the distinct honor and pleasure to play with Ron on the Mid Ties Flyers senior softball team. He was a great player, both in the field as an exceptional 2nd baseman and at the plate with his gorgeous left handed swing. As great a player he was, he was a better person. We will all miss him

I knew Ron as a colleague at American Airlines. We flew together many times and I respected Ron´s professional execution of his flying skills. Our paths would cross many times throughout our careers much to my delight. Ron was always the quiet, composed, and pleasant individual.
My sincere condolences to his family on their loss and may they find comfort in their pleasant memories of Ron.

I played softball with and for Ron for several years and against him for many more. He was alway a friend. I was fortunate to visit with him about a month ago and it was delighful time. It is extreamly sad that we cannot repeat it as we planned.

I know his family will miss Ron far more than his friends and I do. I pray for them in this time of sorrow. Fortuantely they have many wornderful memories of his life. I hope that will help this through this time.

Ron Forte was a neighbor in our community at Overture Highlands, Arlington, Tx. He was a soft spoken but a deliberative man in conversations. I know how much he loved his cats. God bless his family and may peace come to each of you in his loss.
