Ronald Keeney Obituary

Ronald (Ron) Dean Keeney, a benchmark to which we all aspire, passed away on October 27, 2025. Born October 31, 1943, in Dumas, Texas to Mary Lou, a homemaker, and Leo Keeney, a baker, Ron was the 3rd of four boys.

He graduated from Amarillo Palo Duro High School in 1962 where he excelled in baseball. He went on to play baseball at Amarillo College and West Texas State University where he earned a degree in Business.

Ron married Judy Steinberger on April 8, 1966, and they shared 59 wonderful years together, living in Andrews, Fort Worth, Eastland, Wichita Falls, Arlington and Granbury. He was an active member of the Methodist Church in his adulthood holding many different positions from church security to helping lead Sunday School.

Ron began his career with Texas Electric Service Company in 1967 and remained with the company through many transitions, Including TXU and TXU Electric & Gas, before retiring in 1999 as the Vice President of Rates and Regulatory. During his career he was active in the United Way, the YMCA, and the Board of Commerce and Industry, where he was largely responsible for bringing the "Falls" to Wichita Falls. He was known for his integrity, common-sense approach and most of all for his Leadership driven by making tough decisions, decisiveness, and resilience, through his 32-year career.

Ron appreciated a good story, loved his Texas Rangers, watching high school basketball and playing golf but his happiest moments were driving anywhere in the state to watch his grandsons play sports.

He will be remembered for his undying loyalty to family, his faith, his leadership during tough times and his intense belief that effort overcomes desire by staying consistent and intentional to achieve your goals.

He is survived by his loving wife Judy, son Korby Keeney and his wife Celeste, and their boys Cooper and Carson, son Winn Keeney and his wife Kristin and their boys Rider and Maddox and their daughter Emma and his brother, Kenneth 'Luke' Keeney.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1 o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Stratford Cemetery in Stratford, TX.
