Roy Dean Madearis Sr., a longtime resident of Arlington, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, in Waxahachie at 70 years of age. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church, 534 Bethel Road, Waxahachie. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prostrate Cancer Foundation. Roy was born in Fort Worth on Aug. 17, 1945, to Al and Nelta Madearis. He attended Arlington State College. He owned Madearis Photography Studio in Arlington for many years. He was a master photographic craftsman and a member of the Alpha Kodak Mentor team. He served his profession as [resident of TPPA and SWPPA. He was the recipient of many awards, including being named Texas Top Wedding Photographer for an unprecedented 17 continuous years. He was a skilled carpenter, crafting timeless Windsor chairs and tree swings. He was known as a master jokester, assigning nicknames to those he loved, a champion pancake flipper and a dedicated banana split consumer. He was a loyal friend and mentor to many and the heartbeat of his grandchildren. He was loved to "infinity and beyond." For more that 40 years he captured special milestones through his camera lens in the Arlington and surrounding areas. Along with the cherished memories he leaves his family and friends, these images bear a tangible legacy of his involvement in the community. Survivors: His wife of 35 years, Deborah Ann; children, Crystal Marie McDonald, Roy Dean Jr. and Jolie Michelle Dearman; grandchildren, Dakota and McKenzie Beamon, Kenley McDonald, Colton, Priscilla and Noah Madearis, Nicholas Presley and Grace and Luke Dearman.
