Roy Morgan Obituary

Roy Frank Morgan passed away Friday, April 2, 2010.
Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Home. Interment: noon Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Viewing: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Roy was born in Arlington on Dec. 25, 1919. He graduated from Arlington High, Arlington State College and SMU. He retired as an engineer at Bell Helicopter. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy, reaching the rank of lieutenant commander. He flew an F4U Corsair from the aircraft carrier USS Bennington. He was shot down over Japan near the end of the war, being severely wounded and received many medals.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Jo Morgan; parents, Frank and Mae Morgan; brothers, Fred, Billy and Dennis Morgan.
Survivors: Son, Colby Morgan; grandchildren, Colby Jr., Cyrus, Graham Morgan and Carlie Morgan-Kiesel; great-grandchildren, Derek and Jeffrey Snyder; sisters, Wanda Morris, Ava Paschal, Patsy Tull, Jean Roberts and Lynda Mauldin; sister-in-law, Trish Morgan; brothers-in-law, Dick Mauldin and Howard Paschal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy and I worked together at The Guiberson Corporation from 1951 and then Dresser Industries to 1970. He designed manufacturing tooling, and did an excellent job. He had a great friendship with the late Jay Fushay, and they enjoyed playing practical jokes on each other.
