Ruby Pratt Obituary

Ruby Pratt ARLINGTON--Ruby Elizabeth "Betty Jo" "Liz" Stewart Pratt, 88, heaven gained a dear sweet soul on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017. Her loving heart had performed God's work well, and she was called home. FUNERAL: 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Arlington. Interment: Parkdale Cemetery. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission Arlington, 210 W. South St., Arlington 76010. Betty Jo was born Sept. 7, 1929, in Rio Honda, Texas. She graduated from Baylor University in 1950. On New Year's Eve of 1954, she met Cal when "two guys in his car switched with two gals in hers." They attended The Cotton Bowl game the next day, their courtship began and Betty Jo became his "Liz." The couple was married by Rev. H.E. East on April 8, 1955, at First Baptist Church where they continued their Christian journey until their respective passings. Liz was an educator in the Arlington ISD, until retiring to focus on her children. Later, she and Cal owned and operated a dry cleaners and then an art gallery. They shared a great passion in faith, music, sports, art, family and dear friends. Liz was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Cal. We rejoice that they are together again, enjoying the best seats in the house to their favorite performers and sports teams. Liz was a shining light of positivity with an ever present smile who radiated love to all those around her. If you met Liz, you remembered Liz; you loved Liz. The family requests that guests dress colorfully to celebrate her bright spirit. SURVIVORS: Children, Stewart Pratt (Pam), Carla Pratt Helstrom (Gerry), Seanne Pratt Dillard (Chris), and Sabrina Pratt Boley (Jim); grandchildren, Scott and Ryan Stutler, Susan Pratt, Courtney Smith, Noah and April Dillard; nine great-grandkids; numerous furkids; four special nieces; and a countless number of friends. Grandma/Nana loved large.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of our dear Aunt Betty.

I have many fond memories of spending time in north Texas during the summers of my youth and having a chance to visit with Aunt Betty. Even though it would be a year between visits, my shyness quickly melted when I would see her beautiful smile. Aunt Betty had a warmth about her, and no matter who you were, you were no stranger.

I sure will miss receiving her Christmas card, and my fond recollection of our all too brief times together as I mailed our family's latest in return.

Godspeed, Aunt Betty. I love you and will miss you. Please carry my love to all those who have gone before us. Safe travels on your final journey.
