Sam Ballew Obituary

Sam Ballew, 72, an exemplary husband and father, left his life here on earth to begin life anew with his Heavenly Father on Monday, Dec. 30, 2002.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Crescent Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Dickerson, officiating. Interment: 2 p.m. Friday in Moore Cemetery in Arlington.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crescent Park Baptist Church.

Sam Ballew was born March 13, 1930, to Samuel Ballew Sr. and Corine Warren Ballew, in Fort Worth. He moved to Odessa in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Dorothy "Dottie" Everson on July 24, 1954. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for 50 years and retired in 1999. He was honored by Governor George Bush for his "remarkable record of service." He was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church, where he was a Boy Scout leader.

Mr. Ballew never met a stranger and will be greatly missed. Those who met him will be forever blessed.

Survivors: Wife, Dottie; daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Greg Parish of Arlington; son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Kathy Ballew of DeSoto; and grandchildren, Clint and Catie Parish and Travis and Cole Ballew; and several nieces and nephews.
