Sandra Ross Obituary

Sandra (Sandy) Watts Ross
April 24, 1944 - December 15, 2021
Fort Worth, Texas - Sandra (Sandy) Watts Ross was born April 24, 1944, to Lt. Col. William L. Watts, and Jean Justin Watts in Fort Worth, Texas, and died peacefully at home in her sleep on Dec. 15, 2021.
A devout Christian, Sandy grew up in a military family starting kindergarten in post-World War II Germany and finished high school in Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated from Texas Woman's University in 1967 with a degree in social work. She went to work as a probation officer for the Tarrant County Juvenile Department then headed by her future father-in-law, Lynn W. Ross Sr. It was there that she met her husband to be Lynn Ross Jr. They were married in 1968. Sandy also worked as a juvenile parole officer for the State of Texas while Lynn finished law school at SMU. When they moved to Washington, D. C., she began her greatest and most rewarding job, that of a full-time wife and mother to their two sons, and eventually Nana to her four wonderful grandchildren.
Sandy was a fabulous cook and her collection of cookbooks numbered in the hundreds. She also enjoyed studying genealogy of her family, tracing some of her ancestors back to tenth century Scotland and Wales. She was particularly proud to be a descendent of H.J. Justin, the founder of the iconic Fort Worth boot company Justin Boots.
Sandy was a member of the Woman's Club of Fort Worth, Round Table of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Club, Lecture Foundation, Fort Worth Garden Club, First Grandmother's Club, Ridglea Country Club, the Demonbreun Heritage Society, and Saint John's Anglican Church.
Preceded in death by her father, Lt. Col. William L. Watts; mother, Jean Justin Watts; and brother, PFC William E. Watts,
Sandy is survived by her husband, Lynn Ross, Jr.; sons, Brian, his wife, Sarah and David; grandchildren, Hannah Luke, Jenna and Zachery; and her sister, Sheri Stripling.
Family and friends are invited to a Burial Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at Saint John's Anglican Church, 2401 College Avenue, Fort Worth. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth.
