Sean Kilpatrick Obituary

Sean Epperson Kilpatrick, 30, of Fort Worth and Austin, died tragically in a car accident near Austin on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 800 W. Fifth St., Fort Worth. Kolin Kilpatrick, Konner Kilpatrick, Ryan Patrick Moore, Sean Francis, Frank Hill, William Murphy, Randy Hall and Brooks Gregory will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to First Street Methodist Mission of Fort Worth, 801 W. First St., Fort Worth, Texas 76102; or the Coastal Conservation Association, 6919 Portwest, Suite 100, Houston, Texas 77024. Sean was born Dec. 10, 1981, in Fort Worth to Kevin and Deborah Kilpatrick. He was a graduate of Trinity Valley School where he is still remembered and respected for extreme athleticism and, more importantly, his infectious smile that was constantly making others happy. A teacher was quoted to have said, "He could be mischievous but never in a way that showed disrespect to his teachers. Sean seemed to know everyone and everyone knew him." After Sean graduated from Baylor University, he moved to Austin, where he started his own paving company. He met and married April Gregory Kilpatrick. In March of this year, Sean was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, SammyRay. He was an amazing father and husband who adored both of his girls, and was looking forward to the joys and richness of having his own family. Sean, a devoted brother and son, frequently combined his love of the outdoors with that of friends and family through fishing trips down any river. He was one of the few men who could connect with the outdoors and find true joy from being in the beauty of creation, whether he was at his family ranch or fly fishing in Colorado. His brother, Ryan, remembers his best friend and big brother continually teaching him about the outdoors and willingly sharing his passion of nature with anyone who asked. His family finds peace in the fact that he's resting in the arms of our Lord, and will always remember him as an extraordinary man. There are few people who possess the loving and generous heart that Sean shared with everyone. Sean was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Lee Kilpatrick. Survivors: His loving wife, April; daughter, SammyRay; parents, Kevin and Deborah; brother, Ryan; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Susan Gregory; brother-in-law, Brooks Gregory; sister-in-law, Laura Gregory; grandparents: Mrs. D.L. "Bobbie" Kilpatrick, Kitty Thompson, R.R. Thompson and Fred VanNostran and wife, Quinn; aunts and uncles, Tim and Betty Kilpatrick, Claude and Jan Kilpatrick, Don Kilpatrick, Kelly Kilpatrick, Karla and Bud Taddiken and Kimberly VanNostran; and many beloved cousins, including Kolin, Kristen, Konner, Kasey Mae, Stacey, Kari, Shannan, Ryan, Zachary and Brandi.

May 6, 2012

Kevin and Debbie,
I have great memories of Sean; I vividly recall his infectious smile and his sensitive good heart. On occasion, he was mischievous with a “fun / enjoy life” approach that made everyone smile. When he joined the team, he was radiant and his approach brightened the practices. Each of us wants to be around someone who is smiling and enjoying life. Though I only knew Sean as a 10 and 11 year old when he played soccer and basketball with my son, it is obvious he maintained his love of life.
His quickness, speed, aggressiveness, and competitive nature while playing goal keeper in soccer are etched in my memory along with the kindness, honesty, support, and generosity the Kilpatrick family brought to the team. I continued in the soccer environment with my son throughout high school and college and never saw another goalkeeper with Sean's quickness.
I did not see the obituary until Saturday evening, and feel sad because I would have attended the memorial services. Though Sean likely never knew it, he was creating many fond memories for me and many others during his shortened stay with us.
We will keep both of you, Ryan, April, SammyRay, and Sean's extended family in our prayers.
With deepest sympathy,
Carlos and Corena Isaac

My heartfelt condolences to you all. As Sean's art teacher, I saw the creative and playful side of a young boy who loved the playground and his friends/family, especially his younger brother. In reconnecting with him later in life on FB, I saw that same spirit... loving his family, friends and enjoying the great outdoors. Living life to the fullest, smiling all the way, that is the Sean I will remember. Peace and strength to you all during this difficult time and a big hug to my student, Ryan.

Kevin, Debbie, Ryan, April and SammyRay,
Sean was an extraordinary young man who was loving and generous of heart that was a blessing in the life of all who knew him.

Ryan - you're fishin' buddy will always be there with you in the streams and rivers where you shared so many memories.
SammyRay - your daddy is your guardian angel looking over and protecting you.
Kevin and Debbie - you raised two wonderful men and should be very proud. There are no words that can describe or comfort enough your tragic loss of a beloved son, but know that you have many, many friends and family that are here for you now and forever who love you and will help you through this anytime, anywhere.

We love you all and are so very, very sorry for your loss. God Bless

I wish I could be there to help in any way possible and to grieve with my friends. Sean will never be forgotten and I can only hope his daughter will one day learn just how special her father was. I apologize if this accidentally submitted twice. Sean was one of my most memorable peers from grade school. Although he and I were just acquaintances, I will never forget him. May his spirit live on in his baby girl and all those who knew him.
