I wished I would've listened to Ted when he and Dolly ran the boys home in Kansas. I often think of you and am so sorry I was a disappointment.

Ted was one of a kind. A true social entrepreneur. He was ahead of everyone in his drive to have mental health access to all. He was brilliant and skilled in so many areas. He taught me so much in the ten years plus I worked with him. We had so many projects we saw come to fruition. I am forever grateful for being mentored by such a nurturing individual. He saw something in me others did not. He taught me how to write as English is my second language. He was fast, and I mean ... that man could move literally and physically. There were days I could not keep up with him.
Deep, witty, strategic and loving were Ted. I will miss you, TB.

I worked at Lena Pope Home for five years - coming on board in 1983 as a Family Teacher to a group of challenging boys and later being promoted to work in the administration office in several different roles. Throughout my 5 years there, Ted was a consistent source of inspiration, support and encouragement. And he allowed me to take on leadership roles that helped accelerate my career. I've work with Big Brothers Big Sisters for the past 20 years, and each time people ask, who had been a "mentor" to me, I always think of Ted first. What a difference he made at Lena Pope Home and for Tarrant County overall. What a difference he made in my life, too. I will be forever grateful.
