Timothy Poston

1946 - 2016

Tim Poston, 69,"one of the good guys," began his heavenly adventure on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016. A true romantic, it's no surprise he let go the day after Valentine's Day. Tim died peacefully at home surrounded by family. Four months ago he was diagnosed with a rare stage IV liver cancer. Alternative treatments were showing promise until complications got in the way. Tim was born in Vivian, La., on Oct. 17, 1946. He grew up loving the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and track and field. Mr. Poston attended North Caddo High School, NSU and NSULA, graduating with MS degrees in criminal justice and geology. Tim spent 27 years as a college professor and department chairman at Weatherford College. He built a strong Criminal Justice Department, the Law Enforcement Academy, served on community committees, started "Safe Halloween" and worked with area law enforcement agencies. Poston maintained accreditation as master police officer through the state of Texas. "Boss" believed in hands-on learning. He was known for interactive field trips, competing with students in national LAE competitions and developing mini-courses where students camped and studied in the Big Bend area. Survivors: Tim is survived by his wife, Libby Poston, whom he adored; children, Kelly Poston (Courtney), Philippa High (Dale Morris Jr.) and Stacey Arantes; grandchildren, Nora, Liam, and "baby on-the-way" Poston, and Fabiana and Sophia Arantes; father, Coy Poston; half sister, LoisAnn Dick, whom he was anxiously waiting to meet; and other loving family members.
