When Ann first got to the US and she and James were in Oklahoma where Jim was stationed, Jakie Charles and I went to Oklahoma with Jim's Mom and Dad, John W, and Modene Mitchell. Ann was so beautiful and James was the most adorable baby, almost 2. I think they had just gotten there that week. Ann was so sweet but was scared to death of what she was in for. We did have a great visit and one that begin that relationship for the next 35 years.
Ann always wanted me to go with her to Thailand someday and I know that I would have had a great time, she would have seen to that.
One of the times that I remember her getting the biggest laughs was when the family was headed to Texas for Jim's training to become a Seg.Major. It was Jim's Birthday when you came to see us in Oklahoma, The boys got in John Paul's room and some way a snake got out of the cage. I am sure that Ann was terrified, but she did not say anything to me until in April when she called to see if John Paul ever found the snake. When I had no idea what she was talking about she thought it was so funny. The snake was found two days later in our office in a file cabinet.
One of the times that I saw Ann the happiest, was at Mary and Vu's wedding and she was so proud of her family, and was such a proud Mom. She was introducing all of us to her friends, and she was doing it with such Pride. She looked so beautiful that night.
Ann never stopped loving all of Jim's family I do not think, but most especially Mom. She always told Mom that she would take care of her and she would never have to go to a nursing home. She always told her how she love her. She was excited to come back to Arkansas to be there when we had a celebration like the family reunion or in saddness, like when our dad died.
Ann, thanks for the great memories. You will be so missed but you will always be a part of out lives and in our hearts. I am so thankful that I got to call you my sister and for that I am deeply appreciative but at this point, I am heart broken. Mariglee

My house is so quiet without you mom. I find all those things that used to annoy me, I now miss the most. You are hands down the STRONGEST and most beautiful woman I have ever met..inside and out.
You will dearly be missed, but will forever live in all of our hearts.
I love you mom always and forever!
