Wanda Hughes Obituary

Wanda Hughes ARLINGTON -- Wanda Faye Hughes, age 85, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Arlington. FUNERAL SERVICE: will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 with family visitation on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m., both at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, Texas. Wanda was born December 8, 1932 in Alice, Texas. She graduated from Corpus Christi Senior High School in 1950 and attended Del Mar Community College, after which she worked as a legal secretary in Corpus Christi. In 1954, Wanda married Clarence Hughes, and his military career took them to several states and England. In 1966, they settled in Arlington, and Wanda pursued her secretarial career at Meadow Lane Baptist Church, where she and her family were members. She studied the Bible seriously and, for over fifty years, was a gifted Bible teacher. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, quilting and cooking; and she took joy in preparing meals for gatherings of family and friends. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hughes; her parents, Robert Earl and Vivian Bollinger; and her brother, Robert Bollinger Jr. SURVIVORS: She is survived by her children, Debby Long and her husband Stan, Steve Hughes and his wife Pat and Melinda Andric and her husband Tony; her brother, Joe Bollinger and his wife Kay; grandchildren, Traci Long and Mark Long and his wife Andrea; and four great-grandchildren, Hailee, Jackson, Ava and Samantha.
