William Dodson Obituary

William Woodrow Dodson, 85, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully Sunday morning, Oct. 5, 2003, at his residence.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper. The Rev. Andrew Decker, minister at University United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial: Following committal services at 2 p.m., Bill will be laid to rest with family members in the Antelope Cemetery, Jack County. Visitation: He will lie in state Tuesday at the funeral home where his family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorials: Those desiring, please make memorial contributions in Bill's name to the American Cancer Society or to University United Methodist Church.

Born in Antelope on May 9, 1918, William Woodrow Dodson was the son of Henry Jackson and Martha Alice Wallace Dodson. He was raised in Jermyn where he graduated from high school in 1936. He married the former Mary Catherine Custer on Feb. 15, 1942.

Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He received an honorable discharge in 1945 as a sergeant major. Following the war, he entered office employment concerning oil field production and equipment and welding. He retired as vice president of Kennedy Welding Supply in 1981.

He was a member of University United Methodist Church since 1953 and was a member of the Clark class at the church.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Survivors: Wife of 61 years, Mary Catherine Custer Dodson of Fort Worth; daughter, Mary Karen Dodson Greene and her husband, David Crow, of Dallas; son, William Kenneth "Bill" Dodson and his wife, Christina, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Leah Kelly Greene Tepera and her husband, Mark, Ryan William Greene and Sheryle Crystal Dodson Gillihan and her husband, Michael; and great-grandchildren, Louis Parker Tepera and Christina Allison Gillihan.
