Zollie B. Capps Jr., 84, went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 13, 2015. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday in Arlington Chapel. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Arlington Chapel. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to First Baptist Church Arlington or Mission Arlington. Zollie loved his family and friends, country, church, and doing things to help others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, training and showing dogs, teaching in AISD, working with youth, coaching baseball teams sponsored by the Cub Scouts, the Little League, and also the Optimist Teen League. Zollie served in the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in Korea. He was honored last Veteran's Day as a Korean War veteran. He served in the Pantego Volunteer Fire Department and was the volunteer fire chief from 1970-1972. Close to his heart was the annual opportunity helping the Mission Arlington team prepare bicycles for children's Christmas presents. Zollie went to college at Texas A&M and East Texas State University on the GI Bill. He received his degree in industrial arts and taught in Friona ISD and Arlington ISD for 30 years. Zollie was predeceased by a son, Wally Capps, and sister, Fay Nell Shipley. Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Ouida; son, Ron Capps and wife, Joan; daughter, Teresa King and husband, Mark; daughter-in-law, Brenda; granddaughter, Alicia; grandsons, Jordan and wife, Angie, Christopher, Kenneth, Matthew, Cameron and wife, Bekah; great-granddaughter, Lydia; brother, Jack Capps and wife, Wanda; brother-in-law, Bob Spencer; and four nephews.
