Tana Sue Shively

1951 - 2024

Tana Sue Shively passed away peacefully on Easter Morning, March 31, 2024, at her home in Cody WY, after a long cancer battle. Tana was born March 22, 1951, in Dillon, MT to Carl and Shirley Knox. She grew up on the family ranch in Dell, Mt and attended school in Lima with 3 sisters, a brother, and lots of cousins. After attending beauty school she lived in Dillon, Mt for several years. She worked in a hair salon and eventually shifted to a rewarding career in banking.

Tana moved to Cody WY in 1989 when her husband Dan Shively took a job at Shoshone First Bank. She was very active in the Cody community and made many lifelong friends. After her husband retired, they enjoyed spending time in Arizona during the winter.

Tana cared deeply for family and friends and had a very strong will. Her family was spread all over the country and she loved to travel around in their motor home to visit them. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, completed treatments and was for a time cancer free. She was diagnosed a second time in 2014 with a different type of breast cancer and it looked like she had won the battle again.

In 2018 her husband Dan passed away and shortly after she found that the cancer had metastasized into her bones. Tana grew up tough, and fought the hard fight with courage, faith, hope, and love.

In the end, the strain was just too much to bear, and her Savior called her Home.

Tana was predeceased by her soul mate Dan, her parents, sisters Judy Ann, Karla Dee, and Polly Jo.

She is survived by her brother Bill (Cathy) Knox, her son Casey, Stepsons Daniel (Melissa), Spencer (Colleen), 5 grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held at Ballard funeral home in Cody on April 27th at 10 am.
